Winter at Willoughby Chase is my own journey through Joan Aiken’s extraordinary world — following its threads through snow-covered landscapes and dark forests, candlelit rooms and secret corners, moments of danger, friendship, courage and, eventually, the joyful return of colour.

From the pale hush of winter to deep pine shadows; from rich, sumptuous interiors to the first bright promise of spring, the colours of the collection have been gathered from the atmosphere and imagination of this lovely little tale and carried, quite literally, into the dye pots.
